Services and Rates
The goal here is to support music. This also isn't a full time business. So that allows a lot of flexibility in my prices. I want nothing more than to deliver the best quality at the best price.
I have high speed internet and can upload or download to/from anywhere. I also can serve files via a hosted server right on the internet backbone. Perfect for collaborations.
General Rate
Very Negotiable.
I like to price a project based on what your goals are and your budget. This can be a long discussion. But believe me, my rates are very reasonable.
But I also offer packages for demos. See Below:
Pay-By-The-Song Demo Deal - $100 per song
This is my preferred method of recording and I will typically work with another engineer. This you come to us and get a live recording. But we do headphone mixes, and do our best to isolate the instruments. Then overdubs right away. Track vocals and solos separately. Then we do any editing necessary.
With these sessions we try to get things done within a week. Mixed, Mastered and ready to go. So you can come in on a weekend and have a mastered disc in your hand by the next week.
Some bands actually prefer this approach to get a more "live" and natural sound for their albums.
On-Location 4-Song Demo Deal - $250
This is a special package for bands just trying to get a decent quality recording out at as cheaply as possible.
I come out to your rehearsal space with a mobile recording rig and record you live. Then you come to the studio for any minimal overdubs (ie. Vocals and solos). Then you get mixdown and mastering. I try to keep the time around 10 hours total.
Pre-Production
Tempo tracks, basic demos, and song structure are the things you want to have done before going into a bigger studio. They are tedious, take a lot of time, and can spawn many arguements. Do these here and save money and frustration. Here it is relaxed and there is no pressure to use all the time booked. If things aren't working, they aren't working, no need to waste your money.
Tracking
This can take a long time. Layering, getting good takes, etc. are all time consuming. We can do these clean and get them ready for mixing at another studio. There is no pressure and you won't loose money by having a bad day. Rescheduling is relaxed.
Mixing
Tracked at home or another studio and need it mixed? We can work with you to get the sound your after. The rates for this are typically much lower than the general rate. We can do a sample song for free to see if you like it. We also have access to high speed internet servers, so we can work with you from anywhere.
Mastering
I would be the first to tell you that we are not a mastering house. However, I can add the last bit of sparkle or loudness to your mix and have it compete with commercial releases. Since I have been getting great results, I now offer it as an independent service. If I am mixing your material, this is included. I can do a song for free and then negotiate a flat rate depending on how much work is needed.
We can also do the CD Layout. Fades between tracks, hidden tracks, etc. are all possible. We can also get everything ready for duplication
CD Duplication
I can do really short runs of CD-R's in-house with full color printing. I can also do stick-on labels. Larger runs are outsourced.
Website Design
I have over 15 years of professional website design and coding. I can maintain or build new sites.
Guitar Set-Up/Repair and Amp Repair
Essential to any recording are properly set-up instruments. Full guitar and amp maintenance and repair are available on site.
